Sixteen years of shipping, from client sites to cloud platforms.

I'm a Lead Software Engineer at Reinsurance Group of America (RGA), working remotely from O'Fallon, Missouri, just outside St. Louis. I bring over 15 years of professional experience to the role — starting with early freelance work at my own company, Transcend Web Design, and the past decade in enterprise-level engineering roles. Along the way I've built a career around designing resilient systems and writing the clean, maintainable code that runs them, with AWS running through nearly everything I ship.

My core stack is Node.js, Terraform, Angular, .NET Core, and MVC frameworks. I'm AWS-certified and currently working toward the AWS Solutions Architect – Professional certification and LOMA 281, to go deeper on both the cloud and industry sides of the work.

Two recent favorites: a cloud-native ECS file-transfer cluster, architected alongside RGA's platform stakeholders to move on-prem actuarial data (FSx/ NetApp) into the cloud through Auto Scaling Docker containers that scale to zero when idle — since adopted by two other teams as a shared pattern — and a serverless Node.js API on AWS Fargate, event-driven and built for zero infrastructure management.

This site is the latest experiment: Next.js, Lambda, DynamoDB, and Terraform on AWS, running for less than a coffee a month. When I'm not building it, I'm writing about what I learn along the way.

·Lead engineer on the Orchestration team, driving the AROM Modernization HK Enablement project.

·Built enterprise MWAA (Managed Workflows for Apache Airflow) from the ground up to AWS best practices.

·Authored the architecture for the AXIS to Moody’s FlexCache migration across the Canada and APAC phases.

·Security Enhancements: Led OKTA upgrades (HTTP to HTTPS) and MFA setup, remediated Prisma/SSDLC/LDAPS vulnerabilities, and deployed Tanium and Twistlock across EC2/ECS clusters.

·Release Management: Automated golden AMI rotations for EC2/ECS clusters using SSM, doubling release frequency and reducing outages.

·Cost Control: Contributed an estimated $75K–$600K in personal cost savings against a program total surpassing $1M — decommissioned 1,000+ workers and optimized cloud infrastructure.

·Performance: Achieved an 8% increase in Prophet jobs at 13% less compute cost and 19% lower total cost.

·System Modernization: Migrated Assumptions Manager infrastructure to the cloud while cutting on-demand EC2 usage, and built a generic ECS cluster for file transfer between on-prem and NetApp shares.

·Reliability: Added resiliency features (retry logic, job cancellation, backoff rates) improving Prophet workflow reliability.

·Built new Prophet Domain infrastructure for the 2020Q2 and 2022Q1 releases (NTV, CMM, USIH, CAM, USMM, ASIA domains), combining proprietary FIS software with on-prem and AWS services, including gateway server setup deploying PRD/PE/PEG APIs to Windows EC2/IIS via Jenkins.

·Architected and built adam-parquet-oracle-sql-loader, a serverless ETL pipeline moving parquet files from S3 into Oracle via API Gateway, Lambda, Step Functions, and DynamoDB — provisioned entirely through Terraform.

·Created the initial .NET Framework/.NET Core hybrid AssumptionsManager API for FIS Prophet Studio, wrapping a legacy AMAPI.dll dependency with modern .NET Core dependency injection, following SOLID principles.

·Automated the team’s deployment tooling, including a Node.js app (prophet-ansible-code-generator) that auto-generates the Ansible/Jenkins deployment code used across the Prophet Domain builds.
